Folks, lets just be sure to keep our logic hats on at all times. Times have changed in conference realignment. There will be no MAC schools considering the A10. There will be no Sun Belt schools considering the A10. WKU was once an A10 candidate and came close to joining (a shame they didn't join ov...

I would think that VA Tech would be Blaine Taylor's job to lose. Wasn't as interested in leaving ODU for the western BCS level jobs in recent years...since it meant giving up his newly adopted region. But a switch from ODU to VA Tech is a pay upgrade, an ACC job, and the same recruiting base he's ha...

While I do believe we should extend DK, I am by no means sold that Va Tech is a great basketball job to take. Blacksburg is in the middle of absolute nowhere, they have limited hoops tradition, a quirky and historical but nonetheless old/borderline decrepit facility, and a slate of opponents as dif...

It's likely not a done deal until all parties figure out the finances. To simplify: * The A10 wants GMU and VCU * GMU and VCU want the A10 * But for GMU and VCU to leave the CAA now, it means throwing away much of the money that they generated with their Final Four runs...the same runs that made the...

Not that big of a bummer, since one is our coach and one isn't ;)

If it were down to Cal vs Bruiser, I'd feel that way though, as fans of both coaches that aren't leading our programs anymore.

^ Quite true. Another thing to consider: the A10 can use Temples tourney shares to distribute to Butler, VCU and GMU to help soften the financial blow at no cost to the A10 schools...since it's free money Temple is leaving behind. Also worth noting: the CAA exit fee vote for today was postponed. Cou...

I don't think $1.2MM is enough to keep A-10 from pursuing those teams. The A-10 could possibly help with some of those costs if they feel the situation warrants it. But, I would only do it if both decided to come as a tandem. Butler is still priority #1. It's not just the $1.2 million though. It's ...

All it needs to do for now is replace Temple for Butler. If Charlotte were to leave for the CUSA-MWC merger then the A-10 can deal with that loss later. ^ This I completely agree with. This is not entirely true by Katz. Yes, the A10 could deal with a Charlotte loss later. What he fails to clarify i...

As for my opinion, yes, I think VCU and GMU are a perfect fit. Let's face it, the Big East basketball schools WANT to be tied to Big East football, they aren't going anywhere and with the departures of Syracuse and Pitt, the football side WANT the non-football schools to help keep the region as thei...

For anyone interested in the CAA side of things, here's a quick article covering the CAA exit fee raise discussions, July NCAA payouts, etc that are the reason that VCU, GMU and the A10 have used 3rd parties rather than direct contact. Also why GA St. has to decide to stay until July to get their CA...

2012 College Basketball Coaching Changes

sorry, late in getting this posted here compared to previous year. I know it's a helpful means of keeping the total number of "coach" threads limited. To start, I'll post a list of the current openings. For updates, you can just view the link if you are interested. But for discussion, here's one spo...

Prior to those two teams making the Final Four, how many teams had the CAA sent to the Final Four?
Take away GMU and VCU and the CAA has 1 school that got an at-large NCAA bid: ODU

Re: Mobile devices and the board

Anybody use a Blackberry to use the board? Just wondering how it goes on those. I'm posting this with an iPhone, with no trouble. After a year or so of members of my forum asking for it, I finally took the 30 seconds to install Tapatalk ( http://www.tapatalk.com/ ) on my forum. Now I find myself on...
