Re: Game 9: Toledo

Hate just shortens your own life. Instead, look forward to when he bitches about the traffic problem that football games cause in Amherst - because its always going to be something. The fans have demonstrated that we can pull together a big croud for exactly one game in Foxboro if its against the ri...

Re: Game 8: Eastern Michigan

Great to see another win, although the mistakes near the end of the game were troubling. The good news is those mistakes didn't cost the team a W. The team is going to head into the next game thinking they can beat anyone in the MAC, which is where they need to be. The improvement in the program fro...

Re: Game 7: Kent State

Great to see the team finally get the win. Not only did we break the longest losing streak in the country, but we vaulted into the top half of the NCAA in terms of longest current wins streak! Three things I was especially happy to see: 1) some reason for starting to get some confidence in our kicki...

If it weren't in quotes, I would have thought you were predicting a season ending injury in the home opener. Maybe italics to denote its a foreign phrase?

Tough loss to take, all three units had something to do with the collapse. I think it just showed how few games this team has been in for the 4th quarter over the past two years. They aren't used to being in a position to win. They will be competitive in more games this year, and will start to learn...

As soon as one of the two becomes eligible, they stop trying to get the second one eligible.

sad, indeed. Usually, bad news in a KAEO thread involves a kid signing a LOI for a different university. This certainly keeps things in perspective.

Signman, thanks for posting that link. I loved the second figure in the article. To me, it really emphasized how development is a pyramid. The number of $5000 gifts went up, and the really large gifts went up, too. I bet if there was one more level were shown, you could see the $1000 to $5000 gifts ...

Acting that way about a 12 year old is way more likely to produce a drug addict than a division I quarterback. Cal Ripkin has a wonderful book titled something like "Parenting Young Athletes the Ripkin Way" that I strongly recommend for anyone who has kids in youth sports. His basic premise is that ...

Here is the math on that one:

5 conferences * 16 teams/conference = 80 teams in power 5 conferences. (ultimately)

80 teams /2 = 40 teams with winning records.

40 teams < bowl games/2 = money on the table.

Ain't happening.

It might have been hard to predict the exact configuration of all of those changes, but there are two primary factors for the situation we are in now: Temple leaving the MAC; and the atrocious performance of our fanbase and football program over the past two years (even compared to moderate expectat...
