Re: Game 6: Albany @ Garber @ 3 Today

The DI limit is 12.6 scholarships, and they are allowed to be split. A few years back, UMass athletics had a document on their web page listed the number of scholarships given and allowed. At the time, lacrosse was at the NCAA maximum. I couldn't find that on the site now. The athletic department ha...

Re: Dawley out, new coach ?

I was a little surprised to see the trigger pulled this year. Hockey is a much more urgent situation than women's basketball, in the sense that while both coaches are paid about the same, hockey has a chance to bring in revenue and get students to attend games. I thought we would see a new hockey co...

Re: Women's Track & Field

Outstanding. Women's track has really stepped it up a notch from where they had been for a while. Does anyone know if they had their scholarships upped as a result of the extra football scholarships? Heather MacLean put up a very nice 800 at A10's to go with the fantastic mile she ran a few weeks ea...

Re: Men's Swimming and Diving

Women start tonight's finals off with a bang. Meriza Werenski wins the 400 IM, breaking her own school record and making an NCAA B cut. Jenna Diamond and Jenn Robeson take 2-3 in the consolation final, for 10th and 11th overall. The 3 of them are now 1-2-4 on the all time UMass list. Based on the AM...

The men's team is in first with 268 points, with SBU in 2nd with 187. Some highlights for tonight include the 200 free relay winning and breaking the school record, Owen Wright tying the school record in the 50 free, Kellen Gray setting the freshman record in the 50 free, and Alessandro Bomprezzi wi...

Re: Men's Swimming and Diving

The women's team finishes the second night in 5th with 131 points. Third place are the Dukes with 174 and fourth is Fordham, with 168. The team is clawing their way back from last place after the first night, which the athletic department euphemistically called "tough". Some highlights from tonight ...

The meet starts today with some diving and relays. The psych sheets are posted at

and will turn into live results as the meet begins. The men are well positioned to repeat.

Re: KAEO: Zach Coleman

he might not reach the level he wanted to, but I think he can still make contributions to the team with limited practice time. They need to be strategic about how and when he puts the effort that he can give.

Re: KAEO: Zach Coleman

I hope they can figure out a schedule that allows him to to contribute well in limited minutes, but continue the pace throughout the season and finish strong. It can be done. Unfortunately, even the healthy players tend to run out of gas for UMass down the stretch of the season. This is a real weakn...

Re: Kaeo: Rashaan holloway

I am willing to admit to out-grumping 78 on Rashaan. At one point over the summer, I didn't think he would ever suit up. Let's face it - he came in as a project, and then faced injury, academic uncertainties, and weight issues. His success says more about him in a positive sense than any it does in ...

Re: A little cross country news

Last fall, the men's and women's cross country teams had their best season at A10's in years, based on my recollection. Its always nice to see the athletes getting good grades, too.

Re: Game 12: @ Buffalo

Nice win by the team to close a frustrating year out on a positive note. Its always nice to see the team on a regular cable station, too. I didn't always get this feeling over the season, but yesterday makes me think there are some nice players on the team, they just need to get the depth better so ...
