Re: Pat Kelsey

Don't know what happened with Pat Kelsey but I had assumed it was related to personal matters (can't think of any other reasons he'd shoot himself in the foot, career-wise, like he apparently did). Either way, with Bamford in charge of the hiring process I wasn't worried, and in retrospect, it appea...

Re: Game # 11: BYU

^ Exactly. I'm pretty sure not having an OC has more to do with Whipple's preference than anything Bamford decided. If Whipple agrees to hire an offensive coordinator, money isn't likely to be an issue. Pinkham does seem legit, based both on his past resume and the improvement the defense has seen t...

^This Lowell team is also not two years removed from a D2 National Championship either!
Yes, but they have since graduated to division 1. Not exactly an apples to apples comparison.

Re: Game 2 (2017) Coastal Carolina

Dem - college hockey is in another category altogether. In basketball, some fans remember the UMass glory years and if the team was good again they'd give UMass props. No college football fan has ever given UMass a thought in modern times. We love to remember the UMass glory years but we, literally...

Re: Game 2 (2017) Coastal Carolina

^ To be fair, both our hockey and basketball programs in past years could also (unfortunately) be described as "a joke", as you like to say. And the solution to this might be similar to that of those other sports. Oddly enough, it seems the offense took a big step back from Year 1 to 2 when Sifrin d...

Re: Presidential poll August

As crazy as it's been - the funniest part is if Trump makes it to 2020 or whoever the Republican candidate is in 2020 - they will win easily. There's no message from the Dems but Russia and racists and resist. It's not exactly what mainland America is actually looking for. I don't know about "win e...

You aren't replying to me, are you? I pretty much agree with you, I think the current rule should essentially stay in place.

Re: 2017 Recruiting needs and potential recruits

I agree with what Niles and basically everyone else is saying. The idea as mentioned would basically make college basketball into more of a semi-pro league than it already is, with players even less like student athletes and more like professional athlete free agents. As noted by theOFFSeason, it ce...

Re: KAEO: Carl Pierre

I have to agree with Niles on this. The term "undersized" should relate to the position he is recruited to play, not to his position in high school. To my knowledge, he has been recruited as a shooting guard, not a forward, and I don't see him as lacking in size as a SG, unless I'm missing something.

Re: 2017 Head Coach Job Openings

^ I agree with some others that it seems unlikely Kelsey did what he did as a calculated career move. It's basically a black mark on his resume, and the whole thing was just so awkwardly done on his part that I'd have to guess that there truly was a personal reason for him to reverse course like tha...

Re: 2017 Head Coach Job Openings

You always have to be careful about reading too much into these news items about candidates not being interested. I suspect often times these leaks and quotes are driven by candidates' PR interests rather than a reflection of what's actually happening behind the scenes.

Re: 2017-2018 Season

6-7 and 8-10. 20-21 wins is pure dreaming. I don't really understand this line of thinking. I agree that there shouldn't be any rigid expectations about what this team will achieve, and they could very well end up with a losing record, but on the other hand, I'm not sure where this ceiling of sub-....

Re: 2017 Recruiting needs and potential recruits

I'm a little bit torn on Brandon Alston. I think he'd definitely help in 2017, although I'm not sure how much. His status from Lehigh are pretty ho-hum... yes, it was a good team and yes it was his first season back from injury, so there's upside, but I still have a hard time seeing him make all th...

Re: 2017 Recruiting needs and potential recruits

You might have misunderstood what I was saying. And I don't think anyone was impressed when Brower and Gaffney transferred in as walk-ons. Great examples of kids who blossomed in a new situation but still far from impressive or exciting additions to the roster at the time. Maybe my sarcasm was tough...
