Exactly. Coaching seems to be the biggest issue here. Fortunately, we now have an AD who seems pretty capable of finding good coaches.

Maybe UMass should just drop its entire athletic department? :?

In all seriousness, the tone around here would likely be a lot different around here if we hired Brown instead. Sometimes the coach can make that much of a difference.

Re: Fire the OC

As I posted on the game thread, it might be worth seeing what Pinkham can do at some point this season.

Re: 2018 - Game 3: @ Georgia Southern 9/8

No mention of the game at all on Bamford's twitter. This is the first time I can remember him not commenting after a game. The other board reported that he looked pissed at and after the game. FYI: Maine has both an O and D coordinator--and it's not the head coach! I truly believe Joe Harasymiak, t...

Re: 2018 - Game 3: @ Georgia Southern 9/8

Fire Whip! The game has passed him by! Others may have caught on earlier, but the red flag for me on Whipple was losing to Coastal last year. With the talent we had, that never should have happened. Bamford was in a tough spot when he extended the contract the past year because of the way the team ...

Re: Future of UMass System

Marty Meehan's interview on WBUR today is worth your 21 minutes: http://www.wbur.org/radioboston/2018/06/25/marty-meehan-umass Those were very good answers by our UMass president - it makes me happy that President Meehan is the one in charge. Interesting point about the comments that Richard Freela...

Re: AAC Headquarters moving to Dallas

^ the same Mt Ida that has the Boston media and politicians so upset that they're trying to pass through legislation to restrict Meehan's powers as president of the UMass system? The presence of less than 5% of UMass' undergrads at Mt Ida does not put Amherst in the Boston media market Is that for ...

Re: State of the Progam

Two guys I'm looking forward to watching this year are wr's Jessie Britt and Brennon Dingle. Particularly Britt. I thought they both showed good promise last year. Good hands, and after catch runs. Both about the same size, although Britt looks to be a bit stronger, but those 2 give us some nice de...

Re: New UMass coach Matt McCall

I also strongly disagree with Len. Aside from a handful of programs (Kentucky or Duke, for example), a coach wouldn't have a much better chance of an NC elsewhere. Matter of fact, I might even take it a bit further and argue that in some cases a coach's most likely path to success would be to stay a...

Re: State of the Progam

It may seem surprising at first glance given the preseason rankings in past years, but when you think about what the expectation is (.500 or above), the ranking makes sense.

Re: Future of UMass System

Maybe she received a call from her alma matar(s). The hypocrisy is amazing. People like this only pretend to care about a lack of funding when it serves their elitist interests (in this case, the private schools that are threatened by a rising public institution), even if they have to confuse and di...

Re: 2018 Season

It's hard for me to have a strong opinion on this without having all the facts (most, if not all of us, don't have them). However, I disagree with some of the sentiment expressed here. Just as I wouldn't want an architecture history teacher dictating the future of the athletics, I also don't think i...

Re: Future of UMass System

Is this a big deal, or just a routine procedure in cases like this? In the press release, the chancellor wrote that he expects this campus to be up and running this year, so I'm guessing whatever this is will ideally go through in short order.

Re: 2018 Season

Except that maybe it's not as simple as you're assuming it should be. I would imagine there are reasons.
