Re: McGuirk Upgrade

There is a slight difference in the color of the concrete, but you can make out the old and the new in the photo. Look at the two trees and almost down the center of the tree furthest away. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Cp2G2GlXgAAUVVH.jpg:large I don't think even the lower level is the current grand...

Re: New UMass coach Matt McCall

I wouldn't mind if we had a high turnover of successful coaches... but I think building a program that's successful in the long term using that method is dependent on two things: 1. Institutional support - For the sake of the argument, let's say Bamford really has made some great hires. How do we ke...

Boston Summer Housing Leads?

I was going to be crashing at a friends place over the summer while I'm interning at Iron Mountain, but those plans may be falling through. I'm looking for any and all resources I can tap into. Any sublet recommendations or referrals to real estate agents who might be able to help would be much appr...

The whining from UMass Boston about something that doesn't impact them is really getting tired.

Re: New UMass coach Matt McCall

McCall will be just like Ford on that 1st train out if the right P6 gig comes up. I think he will leave on better terms than Ford did but he will be gone especially if its a school in Florida. If he is still here in another 4-5 years than UMass probably isn't winning enough. I get that that's the r...

Re: McGuirk Upgrade

I'm not sure how to interpret the revaluation of expansion goals from 30-35k to 20-25k. :( A future expansion to 20-25k is certainly more suited to FBS than one that's 17k (and certainly exceeds our current needs), but is it enough for conferences/opponents? More recently, UMass secured the service...

Re: McGuirk Upgrade

^ Oh ok this explains it a bit, but an explanation that's kind of disappointing. In the summer of 2013, UMass secured the services of Perkins+Will to study various stadium expansion options to increase seating capacity; improve the overall structure and site amenities; and enhance the fan experience...

Re: McGuirk Upgrade

^ Very true, it is what it is. BTW looking at these concepts has me a bit concerned about McGuirk's potential for future expansion, even if we somehow did have the money. Look at the concession complex east of the East Grandstand (labeled 1 and 2). Isn't that in direct conflict with the stadium expa...

Re: McGuirk Upgrade

Looks like depending on which stair railing option is chosen there could be the demolition of up to 1,200 seats to meet ADA compliance. :(

Re: McGuirk Upgrade

Honestly, why spend anything significant on this pile of concrete if there isn't a way to make it substantially bigger at some point? They must have something in mind. Right? On the one hand I see where you're coming from. We may not need a 30k seat stadium right now, but I don't see how we get int...

I don't know anything about this publisher, but it's pretty cool to see Old Chapel get some recognition.

Although I'd point to the notable exclusions of West Point and Boston College.

Re: Answer And Ye Shall Ask (AAYSA) Version2

About 700 pounds. Compared to beavers, groundhogs/woodchucks are not adept at moving timber, although some will chew wood. (At Cornell, woodchucks that gnaw their wooden nest boxes are given scraps of 2-by-4 lumber.) A wildlife biologist once measured the inside volume of a typical woodchuck burrow...

Re: Answer And Ye Shall Ask (AAYSA) Version2

According to Google a duck weighs a max of 3.5 lbs and a horse weighs a min of 840 lbs. 350 lbs is a lot less force than 840 lbs. So I'd fight the 100 duck sized horses.

What is true happiness?

Now the key is to live up to the hype. :o

Still, very impressive! Certainly a better position than being rated #130 like last year.
