Re: State of the program

Also while I have a slight issue with airing out a lot of internal issues to the public, I have nothing but respect for Luwane. I wish his senior year went the way we all hoped it would. I guess the good news is that we have a gauge from a primary source on the culture. Pipkins himself admitting he...

Re: State of the program

So elaborating on these "empty promises": Playing time, these shots are going to be yours, these plays are going to be ran for you. This would go on in-season too. In practice, he'd draw up a play for somebody like we're gonna run this play, and he'd never run that play during the rest of the season...

Re: State of the program

For me this seems really concerning. Pipkins talking about how players weren't happy with the program and blaming McCall for a lot of empty promises. Players didn't get along with the coaches, coaches didn't get along with the coaches. A lot of disorganization going around. Players felt disrespected...

Re: Future of UMass System

In Happy Valley, fox hunting would never fly, unless it can be guaranteed that the horses, dogs and especially the foxes where enjoying the experience, and no one, man nor beast, would be harmed in any way, which actually is only fair. My hometown in the Pioneer Valley voted for Trump, drives picku...

Could be the best recruiting class since 09-10 that eventually went 25-12 and deep into the NIT's - Farrell, Riley, Vinson, Putney and Sampson Carter.
But can McCall survive the next two years going 12-20 and 15-15?

Re: Where Have You Seen UMass play?

Not sure when the top pic was taken so I don't know about the seats. http://scua.library.umass.edu/speccollimages/referenceimages/RG150-0003968.png Good find. From that picture, it looks like at some point the Cage was outfitted with open deck bleachers. I see a Clark banner up there. Did we ever p...

Re: Where Have You Seen UMass play?

When it opened the Cage looked like this. (March 1932) http://credo.library.umass.edu/images/resize/600x600/murg149-i0010729-001.jpg It appears there was temporary seating for events. Like this C.o. 1948 graduation. And maybe even entire basketball seasons. Couldn't say. https://i.imgur.com/sn1dnvj....

Re: 2020 Recruiting

https://irishsportsdaily.com/s/9244/bay-state-blitz-book Notre Dame article talking about the 2020 recruiting class from Massachusetts. Interesting insight into the development of quality talent here in the Bay State. Seems counterintuitive given what we know about declining participation here and a...

Geesh - I forget Old Cage was an upgrade. What the hell was the Old-Old cage? A barn with chickens and goats running around.
Pretty sure it was the same dirt floor cage, but with only mezzanine level seating. No bleachers.

Re: KAEO: Ronnie DeGray III

^ Since 2003 (on 247sports) the 2019 Woodstock class is by far the most recruited by UMass with 6 offers. The next closest is Montverde Academy (Montverde, FL) in 2018 and 2019 and Putnam Science Academy (Putnam, CT) in 2019 all with 3 offers. Prior to McCall the most UMass had done was two offers p...

Good to see he's made something of himself and is setting a good example.

I can only imagine if Joe Cullen was the head coach (rumored before Bell) and he hired Terry McDonough. :D

The more tickets we sell in the UMass allotment, the better it looks to the NCAA.
Are we supposed to impress them or something?

Re: KAEO: Tre Mitchell

Not crazy about the knocks UMass is getting Twitter regarding how “sleazy” the process was to get him, but I guess if you want to win you gotta play the game like the big dogs do. Tre gets to play with three of his current teammates. Weeks gets to play as a legacy. UMass is hiring the coach of one ...
