Chancellor's Circle Associate

Did anyone else notice John and Ellen Calipari gave to the UMass annual fund last year? I just got my list in today's mail. I imagine there are other notable contributers, but Coach Cal was the first one I came across. [By way of disclaimer, I just thought it was nice that a former coach appears to ...

When a UMass victory is the lead story on Sportscenter (also NESN Sportsdesk) let'em use any logo they want.

I agree.

Mike, can you lock this? I might be wrong, but I think there have already been two or three threads over the last couple years covering this topic.

Firstly, a phone call to the athletic department is all anyone needed to do if they weren't sure about the scrimmage. Secondly, I thought the team already looks better than last year. I think Carrier (at this point) looks like a player who might dominate one game and disappear the next, but he defin...

This winter I went to one basketball game. I bought my ticket from a "scalper" for almost half-price. Unfortunately, a full-price ticket is not in my budget right now. Besides, I have a feeling that scalpers might not be so bad for UMass at this juncture. Firstly, there are many season ticket holder...

Sad news. Yesterday, I turned down the sound on the tv so I could listen to the game on the radio. Even though the radio was a couple seconds ahead of the tv I wanted to hear "our guys" call the game. In fact, my wife and I decided not to go to Saturday afternoon mass so we could finish listening/wa...

In fairness to Wiggum, he does have a point about the lackadaisical play. I was at the Cage during most of the 80's. As I recall, the difference in wins and losses between Gerlufson's last year and Calipari's first was negligible, but the difference in intensity was enormous. Guys like Matt Anderson...

Just to add my 2 cents… The ticket prices are indeed a large part of the attendance problem. Heck, UMass hockey is probably the best entertainment value in the Pioneer Valley (UMass football is also right up there). I love UMass sports, but have only so much discretionary income. So, I'd rather take...

There are many fine young men (and women) from all racial and ethnic backgrounds who come out of the "projects" and play by the rules. To give Mr. Camby a free pass due to his background does an injustice to all those from similar backgrounds who stay clean. Moreover, it strongly hints at classism t...

I'm also excited. Heck, I started at UMass in '82 and still have fond memories of the Cage and some horrible teams. UMass is my alma mater and I'll cheer for 'em if I want to. Sure, the program is not where it was in 95-96, but it's still a long way from where it was in the early 80's! So there.

It was at the cage during Desert Storm. To the best of my recollection the game was in early February, 1991, since the students (and protesters) were back on campus.

Thorr also made the greatest open-field tackle in UMass basketball (yes, basketball) history. Those of you who were at that game know what I mean. I was there. In my book it goes down as one of the greatest plays ever made at the cage. The best part was that Bjorn came on a blind side blitz; the gu...

Let those among you who have never left one job for another be the first to cast a stone. I thought Ian did okay. The "mascot fiasco" may have been mishandled (maybe not), but how many of us got reply emails from him after we emailed to him our concerns? Most of us. Sure, they were probably sent by ...
