In fairness to Wiggum, he does have a point about the lackadaisical play. I was at the Cage during most of the 80's. As I recall, the difference in wins and losses between Gerlufson's last year and Calipari's first was negligible, but the difference in intensity was enormous. Guys like Matt Anderson...

Just to add my 2 cents… The ticket prices are indeed a large part of the attendance problem. Heck, UMass hockey is probably the best entertainment value in the Pioneer Valley (UMass football is also right up there). I love UMass sports, but have only so much discretionary income. So, I'd rather take...

There are many fine young men (and women) from all racial and ethnic backgrounds who come out of the "projects" and play by the rules. To give Mr. Camby a free pass due to his background does an injustice to all those from similar backgrounds who stay clean. Moreover, it strongly hints at classism t...

I'm also excited. Heck, I started at UMass in '82 and still have fond memories of the Cage and some horrible teams. UMass is my alma mater and I'll cheer for 'em if I want to. Sure, the program is not where it was in 95-96, but it's still a long way from where it was in the early 80's! So there.

That he was recruited by Ivy League schools makes me think he's probably not going to be a Prop 48 casualty.

It was at the cage during Desert Storm. To the best of my recollection the game was in early February, 1991, since the students (and protesters) were back on campus.

Thorr also made the greatest open-field tackle in UMass basketball (yes, basketball) history. Those of you who were at that game know what I mean. I was there. In my book it goes down as one of the greatest plays ever made at the cage. The best part was that Bjorn came on a blind side blitz; the gu...

Let those among you who have never left one job for another be the first to cast a stone. I thought Ian did okay. The "mascot fiasco" may have been mishandled (maybe not), but how many of us got reply emails from him after we emailed to him our concerns? Most of us. Sure, they were probably sent by ...

"Are you and Kosty related?" No, but my wife isn't a big hoop or hockey fan. She loves going to football games. And while she did earn a graduate degree at another UMass campus, it still cost her about $100,000.00. So without a discount it's either 20 bucks for a basketball ticket or $20.00 more on ...

Yes, an excellent idea. I joined the AA just to simply to support our alma mater as there wasn't much in it for me individually. Moreover, I'm already a football season ticket holder. However, this will definitely get me to some more hoop games and hockey games. I made it to the MC four times last w...

I think Leaman is great. I just wish he'd learn how to pronounce "Xavier". It's "X" is in xylophone, not "X" as in "X-Men".

Other than that they're both very good. I love that they root for the minutemen, but aren't afraid to call it like they see it.

As another who has never posted until this issue arose, I have to add that I love the Minuteman nickname. As for those who have a gender problem with the name or its history, They need to study up on the fateful events of April 18-19, 1775. This link is a good starter..... http://www.concordma.com/m...
