Re: 2019-20 season

If I had to pick one guy I’m expecting a breakout season for next year it would be Diallo. I thought he was really impressive as a frosh. And was just hitting his stride when he got hurt.

If fully recovered I have high hopes for him as a multi level threat and strong defender.

Re: 2020 Recruiting

Seems to be a lot of Indiana and South Carolina chatter for Cross so I am betting he will not be the easiest fish to reel in. I know we offered that Farris kid -- I think we will need some more help up front with Baptiste and potentially KTM both bidding adieu after next year. Would leave Tre, Sy a...

Re: KAEO LuWane Pipkins (PG-2015)

It’s really unfortunate how many of the posters here have become anti-Pipkins. The guy did a lot for our program and he’s still only a student athlete - let’s not be so sensitive. Pip broke the golden rule that I learned after making a mistake when I was younger. Never trash your former employer on...

Re: 2019 Recruiting

A video link of Sean East. https://youtu.be/ZaIKVpEW7IQ This kid looks like he is going to be good at the point. He has good height floor vision and can shoot. Looks like he needs to bulk up a little. Welcome to UMass Sean! Holy cow 🐮! He looks awesome I don't like to get too excited by highlight v...

Re: 2020 Recruiting

^ It will be a character flaw for Cross if he falls in love with the atmosphere at the Mullins next season. There are a billion reasons why next season needs to be a strong one and the 2020 recruiting class is just one of them. I didn't mean the atmosphere at the Mullins itself, the atmosphere/vibe...

Re: 2019 Recruiting

How was his D? I'm not an expert, but I would only give him a C. They played a lot of zone so it's hard to judge how 1 guy plays. I'm as far from an expert as you can get so this has no real value. But it's the internet, I'll offer my opinion anyway! Watched the whole game and I like him, seems ste...

Re: 2019 Recruiting

I noticed the FT's too 69. Should be correctable, looks really flat. If he's a Deeky that wants to be at UMass for the right reasons, I'm in. I'm loving this team, I know it's premature and I might be getting roped into misplaced optimism, but there is a VIBE about these guys. And it's a good one.

Re: 2020 Recruiting -- not kidding

I don’t have any inside info. I just know what I read and what I’ve read is that Cross is getting a lot of attention. Indiana and South Carolina seem to be quite interested in him. I think he’ll be tough to get but maybe he wants to stay local and maybe Bergeron is his Pied Piper. Knock on wood we ...

Re: 2019 Recruiting

I really like Kolton Mitchell. Just watched about 20 minutes of one of his games, I'm sold. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZdZEiajkkxQ Classic...both teams wearing white uniforms...😂😂😂 Funniest thing is they go to a timeout and then like a Superman costume change they suddenly all run back onto th...

Re: 2019 Recruiting

^^ Personally I’d say it’s far too early to say McCall has stabilized the program. Six, possibly 7 new players (freshmen) on the roster doesn’t sound like stabilization to me. I’m waiting for the end of next season to see if the program is stable. You're in a better mood when you're following hocke...

Re: 2019 Recruiting

I think it's fine to fill all the scholarships. A lot of these kids are very mature prep school players. Tony has coached many of them already so knows their character. We've got Djery graduating next year and I'm guessing KTM might be on track to graduate and grad transfer. So maybe 2 scholarships ...

That confirms everything I thought about Carl. What a great diamond in the rough the staff found when they offered Mr. Pierre.

Re: State of the program

Not very sobering honestly. The last decade has been plenty sobering. I disagree with the experts though. I think a great and consistent winning program can be built to last at UMass. We have a beautiful campus, great facilities, top-notch education. We just need to find the right coach (if we haven...

Re: Who will not be back next year?

I learned to not underestimate any guys with examples like Tony Gafney and most recently CJ. KTM may remain a deep bench guy or he may emerge as a front-line solid starter. Kids at that age develop at different paces and can surprise you. A lot depends on his health and how hard he works in the off ...
