I just sent my email message to the new AD. If you feel that a change should be made, then take the time to send him something. There is strength in numbers, my friends.

Chapel -- I think it would be great if the new AD sat down with each player in confidence to get an assessment of the program. If they could get a coach in here that would actually let the kids play a little and who actually might improve their games -- a coach who might actually be able to relate t...

Given TT's report from the game, you gotta wonder which if any of these kids are already trying to figure out how to get out of the nightmare situation they are in at UMass. I am not saying that they will try to get out, but body language, facial expressions, etc. tell a lot about how kids are feeli...

The goodwill generated by the four game win streak is a distant memory. Yep, this was ugly. Nothing good to be said about this game, nothing positive to be taken from it. Best thing- let's attempt to correct whatever is correctable from this one, put it behind us, move forward and finish out the se...

The Lap defense team seems to be absent today. I can't say I blame them, though. It is almost impossible to defend what went on agaisnt Fordham today. The Lappas era, thankfully, will be coming to an end soon.

Basically, what Holley is doing here is writing an easy column that requires absolutely NO WORK. As a former reporter and columnist for a daily newspaper, I know how hard it can be to come up with something interesting for each column. Sometimes you just sit down and can't do it. So you rehash an ol...

This is what bugs me about the column: He basically portrays an athletic program in turmoil and to convey that message, he conveniently ignores the hockey program's rise from the dead, the ongoing success of Lacrosse, the hiring of a new and seemingly highly qualified AD and the hiring of a great re...

VoxPop -- as far as Lap and recruiting go, don't get too far ahead of yourself. Next year's class is nowhere to be found in the rankings of top recruiting classes. Now that obviously does not mean that it will not be a good class, but it does give one reason to pause. Plus, the schools against which...

Player Profile: Willie Jenkins By Eric Soderstrom, The Massachusetts Daily Collegian, 11/20/2001 He wasn't given a chance last year. And it's because in his first game as a member of the Massachusetts men's basketball team, Willie Jenkins' confidence was tampered with. In the first half of his debu...

"Tech was led by Willie Jenkins’ double double of 28 points and 10 rebounds." You mean THAT Willie Jenkins? The Willie Jenkins whose the leading scorer of the OVC? Actually, it was his second double-double of the week . It couldn't happen to a nicer kid! GO WILLIE J! As Bob Lobel would say,...

I am definitely with those who were encouraged by the Dayton game. At this point in the season, I am thinking about next year and yesterday was a good sign. I won't repeat all the things said about Lasme, Chadwick (who is NOT better than AA, as one poster claimed) and Viggiano, but the overall pict...

Whoops -- sorry about that. Chris Chadwick is a much better athlete than Chris Chandler. That said, he still should be the starting point guard with AA at the 2.

I also am wondering why Gabe Lee was not on the bench. Anyone have any insight?

My son and I took the ride out from eastern Mass and it was well worth the four hours of driving. Bought tickets on the web this morning and picked them up at Will Call. They were horrible seats, so we just sat behind the hoop where the cheerleaders are. I agree with jj on the students not showing u...

Talk about misrepresenting things. I just read through the thread about Lappas addressing the crowd at the hockey game and found two or at most three posts that were negative on it. That represents a tiny minority not only of this board, but of the UMass community. As far as I am concerned it was gr...
