Re: Where Have You Seen UMass play?

18-6 lifetime against Clark. Last game was a couple of weeks after I was born (no, there were no ladders to retrieve the ball from the peach basket) http://umasshoops.com/wiki/doku.php?id=opponent_clark And the picture of the cage above shows the keyhole lane which apparently went away in 1951. http...

Re: Lowe & Harris --- best backcourt combo ever at UMASS?

Oooops. I thought we had picked up a nice point guard and that was the impetus for Tre Wood to skeeedaddle. Is Wood officially gone or can he still be a member of next year's roster?

This old thread was a fun read anyway.

Re: Lowe & Harris --- best backcourt combo ever at UMASS?

Seeing the enthusiasm for our near-term guard combo, I figured I could resurrect this thread from a decade ago to show what they are up against. Seems to me we had a pretty good guard combo about six years ago that would have gotten some discussion in this thread.

I think if any of us were asked to name the three best coaches of the past 50 years, we'd all come up with Leaman, Calipari, and Ford. Like the numbers say.
So, who is number four? Bruiser at 54.4% or DK at 53.1%

What if a coach tells all the players that he loves them like sons and then doesn’t show up for the press conference where they are announcing him as the next coach? How does that one rank?
When you comin home, dad, I don't know when. But we'll get together then....

Where are they this year?

My semi-irregular update look at where the former UMass players are now playing: https://basketball.usbasket.com/team/USA/University-of-Massachusetts/245?Page=4 Sorting on the year column (next to nationality) makes it easier to read. Amazingly, Stephane Lasme is still lacing them up, although with ...

I think you need to make a stop in the AAC well before the Big Ten. As far as universities go, I think the Big Ten makes a lot of sense (looking at peers). As far as athletics go, there's a lot to be done.
Completely agree, just dreaming big (B1G).

Re: Benefits of being in the A10

While it has tailed off a bit (soccer, lacrosse, softball), we have a nice history of women's sports (along with pretty decent facilities) which can be a selling point over another institute of higher learning.

Re: Benefits of being in the A10

To me the AAC is the logical landing spot. But I also have long thought that UMass compares well with Rutgers as a peer school, all things considered (Maryland also). Perhaps the next time the music stops, I would not complain if we could grab an open seat in a Big Ten game of musical chairs.

Neither White or Harrington (or most of the Hoyas) had a good game that day. If TJ can bring his dad's talent, energy and drive to UMass, this will be me: :D  :D  :D

Re: 5 year anniv of last NCAA Tourney game

FWIW, in each of the eight years under the current format, one of the 11 seed play-in game winners has won to the round of 32 (Arizona State can continue that this year) and the other one has lost in the round of 64. VCU in 2011 made the most of it by getting to the Final 4. Only two other teams adv...
