Re: Conference Realignment
I dont think Temple is far fetched at all as AAC could implode or be forced to try to add some sun belt's or CUSA's. In Fact, wouldnt surprise me if Temple, Delaware, Army, and Navy all end up in the MAC (Army and Navy all sports) That sounds good, but if circumstances did somehow align to give the...

Re: Conference Realignment
^ Western Kentucky might be better for the MAC strictly from an athletics program (basketball and football) standpoint, but I'd personally prefer to see Delaware instead, if that's a possibility, as they'd be more of a peer for UMass and could make for nice rivalries along with Buffalo. I was just l...

Re: First reaction: UMass to the MAC
its interesting how all the people that argue that UMASS basketball moving into the MAC is not a big step down for the BBall program and that the level of play in the MAC is not all that bad. But you all have us now winning 20 plus games every year . WOW how does a team that has only won 20 + games...

Re: Money talks
That money has been spent the same way other schools spend it. Athletics, outside of a small handful of schools, is a negative on the budget sheet. Schools do it as a cost because it is generally good for the image, pride, alumni relations, etc. for the school. ... In the last 41 years, Basketball ...

Re: MAC Teams - Present and Future
Inversion, your missing the whole point, we are just talking about the level of play in the conference, we are not talking about how good or bad our team is. I think you are the one missing the point. Success of the UMass basketball program (and athletics in general) is really what matters, not how...

Makes sense. Either way, it's a feature of that list worth noting.

Re: NCAA Revenues and Expenses
https://sports.usatoday.com/ncaa/finances The A10 has four teams listed in the 66-108 range with us being the number 66 team. If I'm seeing correctly, those few programs are the only ones from the entire A10 conference on that list (in contrast to the MAC). In other words, just public schools, whic...

Re: First reaction: UMass to the MAC
^ For what it's worth, I peaked at the MAC forums the past week, and the opposite was claimed. If I recall correctly, the story is that the MAC declined Delaware's bid, as they preferred not to have an FCS call-up, and their basketball program doesn't add as much as UMass's does. And from UMass's po...

Re: First reaction: UMass to the MAC
My biggest concern is that a MAC championship gets the winner a 6 seed in the Big Dance mainly on the basis of SoS. An at-large bid is dependant on an aggressive OOC schedule with some solid wins and a good showing in the conference championship game and a lot of crossed fingers. Prospects of an in...

Re: First reaction: UMass to the MAC
The argument goes beyond conference, if you want a competitive NCAA basketball program, you put the resources behind it (compensation, etc) that you need. Any criticisms that you think are valid apply to being in the A-10 just as much as the MAC. Again, this is about having a nationally competitive ...

Re: First reaction: UMass to the MAC
The critics you refer to mostly do not care about what conference the team is in, nor do they care about UMass basketball for that matter, generally. They will take issue with the salary regardless.

Re: Coach in 2025-26?
The budget will stay the same as long as they keep winning. I think they learned from past choices Why would they pay a coach what Frank is making when being competitive in the MAC can be achieved for a fraction of the cost? It doesn't work like that, they can't just go with the minimum offering po...
