Re: Game 16 @ Dayton 1/13/19

Dayton also has incredible support from the surrounding area - specifically businesses. They are embraced by the community - imagine that. Are you suggesting that the PC capital of the east coast support these student athletes who are being treated like slaves. Oh no, that will not fly in Amherst/N...

Re: Game 16 @ Dayton 1/13/19

It is truly amazing that Dayton can draw 13000 per game, a campus that is 3 times smaller than UMASS and an area that is smaller than Springfield, and hit by a snow storm. It doesn't hurt that their team wins. UMass filled the Bill regularly when they won as well. I don't know enough about the Dayt...

side note: What's with all the spam topic postings on here that have nothing to do with UMass basketball?
The board was opened to new user registrations a couple weeks ago. Unfortunately, a lot of bots have joined.

Way too early to make that declaration VanMeter... or maybe not for you since you've made a similar statement about the football coach 10 months prior to his first season.
I believe that's what's called a difference in risk tolerance.

Re: What will we look like in 2018-2019?

I'm just about done with this season and conference play has just begun. So tired of the inconsistency. Long-term I don't know what else can be done. We have nice facilities. We spend a good chunk of change on athletics. We're in a non-power, but still multi-bid league. We're not in a terrible locat...

Re: 2018-2019 Season

^ Could just be part of the game these days. Completely anecdotal, but I think player movement is pretty common in every NCAA sport.

Re: Assistant Coaching Staff

Theres a reason there is a co-dc who has been a dc before.. I think he is there to be 100% a mentor and guide him along. Not really a pet peeve, but I do appreciate the English language and don’t get it when academic institutions butcher it.... You can’t have a single “Co”: so UM must think a lot o...

Re: Assistant Coaching Staff

^ It's just one of those football-isms. Some teams have a co-coordinator and a full-blown coordinator. Some teams have two co-coordinators. Not sure why we don't see titles like "Vice Coordinator" or "Assistant Coordinator".

Re: What will we look like in 2018-2019?

This line from the Walfish article really stuck out to me: "..The anger that is building within the players needs to be channeled onto the court. There isn’t time for players to be consumed with the wrong things or take their spot for granted." I think this thing is getting slippery and with how th...

Re: Assistant Coaching Staff

Look, I think AAR is going to raise the talent level, but I, along with none of you, know how he's going to be as a DC, and I think it's naive to say that he was a particularly effective position coach the last few years. That's fair and I'd agree. But in your previous post, you seemed to have far ...

Re: Assistant Coaching Staff

If true, AAR is both a huge coup, and maybe a disappointment. He's young and inexperienced. He's been a college coach for one year, the corners coach at MD, and the corners didn't have a great year. I have no idea if he'll be able to make halftime adjustments. But he's also one of the most well res...

Re: KAEO: John Buggs III

He wants a real shot at the big dance. He wants to play in a conference with a higher level of competition. He potentially wants to play closer to home. He thinks McCall is an okay coach, but is not crazy about him (this is just a total guess I am throwing out there). I think those are all rational...
