Jacob Toppin from Woodstock just committed to URI. Wonder why he’s a player from Woodstock that we didn’t go after.
Because he’s not good enough?

Re: 2019 Recruiting

I really like the size of East at the point. It is a huge advantage defensively if you have a 6'3" point in the A10 (assuming he has all the required skills and quickness of course). I never liked having smaller guys like Pip that often were mismatches and could be posted up. That length should hel...

Re: 2019 Recruiting

Sounds like he’s a little bit of a late bloomer — took a prep year to get stronger after playing alongside Romeo Langford for several years in Indiana. Surprised that experience in Indiana didn’t get him more D1 looks given the amount of attention Langford got. Maybe he just improved quite a bit as...

Was UMass his only D1 offer?
The article lists around 5 offers, Butler by far the best among them. (He's an Indiana kid.)
Article says no offers just contact. I think we were his only offer.

I don't see a ranking listed in 247sports.

Not 247 but a ranking

It is slightly concerning that they still only have 10 scholarship players for next year.
No. It is not.

Re: 2019 Recruiting

Here's a game to watch Buggs, PSA vs Mt. Zion, a very good program. It's a tangled web to be sure. Buggs (#51) plays behind Tyson Etienne who is going to Wichita State and is ranked ahead of Noah Fernandes. I thought Buggs played pretty well in this game and while not a flashy PG, he can handle min...

Re: Spring Game

Spring game is now a spring showcase of drills and a practice scrimmage. https://umassathletics.com/news/2019/4/17/football-announces-details-on-saturdays-spring-showcase-format.aspx With limited tailgating opportunity and rain in the forecast, only the diehards will be out there. I’m a diehard and...

Aaron Falzon from Northwestern is a grad transfer. UMass should vet him to see how healthy he is. If he's over his leg injuries he's worth the scholarship. The kid can shoot the ball from deep.
We have shooters we need guys who can dish as well as play D.

Re: State of the program

Our Hockey team is int eh SEC (football) of college hockey. We are in the elite group. What AIC did this year in Hockey is what we can hope for in hoops. Also, there is no “other tournament in NCAA hockey. The number of teams that make the dance percentage wise is close to that in hoops.

You don’t think that Nebraska wouldn’t go D1 in Football only if they could?
Their men's hoops doesn't tear up the Big 10, but they're shockingly high in attendance every year.
Not much competition for entertainment dollars in Nebraska....
