Re: 2019 Recruiting

Here's a game to watch Buggs, PSA vs Mt. Zion, a very good program. It's a tangled web to be sure. Buggs (#51) plays behind Tyson Etienne who is going to Wichita State and is ranked ahead of Noah Fernandes. I thought Buggs played pretty well in this game and while not a flashy PG, he can handle min...

Re: Spring Game

Spring game is now a spring showcase of drills and a practice scrimmage. https://umassathletics.com/news/2019/4/17/football-announces-details-on-saturdays-spring-showcase-format.aspx With limited tailgating opportunity and rain in the forecast, only the diehards will be out there. I’m a diehard and...

Aaron Falzon from Northwestern is a grad transfer. UMass should vet him to see how healthy he is. If he's over his leg injuries he's worth the scholarship. The kid can shoot the ball from deep.
We have shooters we need guys who can dish as well as play D.

Wichita fans can be as dismissive as they want. They're still in Wichita.
And the only claim to fame is the white stripes saying people will go there to work a saw...

Re: State of the program

Our Hockey team is int eh SEC (football) of college hockey. We are in the elite group. What AIC did this year in Hockey is what we can hope for in hoops. Also, there is no “other tournament in NCAA hockey. The number of teams that make the dance percentage wise is close to that in hoops.

You don’t think that Nebraska wouldn’t go D1 in Football only if they could?
Their men's hoops doesn't tear up the Big 10, but they're shockingly high in attendance every year.
Not much competition for entertainment dollars in Nebraska....

Re: KAEO Jaylen Franklin (2016)

He announced on social media he is transferring to Cumberland University (TN) which is a D1 NAIA school. I had to look up what the NAIA is and D1 in NAIA is comparable to NCAA Division II. No idea if they even offer hoop scholarships at that level but hope he finds success. NAIA has different, some...

Re: State of the program

The kind of turnover is very similar to what coach Carvel did in his first two years. We know he knew what he was doing based on the results. It, we knew right away by the way the kids played even in year one. We will know early even if wins aren’t coming if we are in the right track. The pressers w...

What a clown. Says he decided to transfer before the 2017 season was even done. Yet wonders why other players didn't consider him a leader lol. And some people question if he checked out last year...
I only listened to pieces. Was he saying the 2017-2018 season or DKs last season?

Re: State of the program

I hope to God UMass can make it into a postseason tournament and play Providence next year. I know it is a long shot, but it would be great to have the front of the UMass Jersey in Pips face.

Re: State of the program

Empty promises to the guys who sat for a year, would be my guess. Guys probably heard what they wanted to hear. As to drawing up plays for specific guys, that makes me think Pip doesn’t understand or McCall didn’t explain it well or a combination of both. I assume McCall would draw up plays for posi...

Re: KAEO: Jonathan Laurent

But KTM would have to sit a year while Laurent could play right away (if he's completed his graduation requirements) Fair point, that might influence KTM to want to stay. But looking at it from the UMass perspective we really only lost one big - Holloway and we have two coming in. So I think KTM's ...
