Re: 2020 A10 Offseason News

not sure it belongs in this thread, but here's yesterday's tweet of interest: Armored Athlete @ArmoredAthlete Y’all thought we were done? Former @UMassBasketball and San Antonio Spurs draft pick Cady Lalanne was 2nd in PPG and RPG in the KBL this season. This summer he’s bringing his talents to Armo...

Re: 2020-21 Season

I agree that Rothstein's analysis is fair, noting that he has URI 6th based on them getting waivers granted for the talented transfers. If Noah Fernandes got a waiver and URI's Mitchells don't, we should easily finish ahead of them. I think we're better if no-one gets waivers also. I also have been ...

Without any games, they are gonna run out of shit to rank at some point here.
unlike so many, at least some there still have a job, although I heard many ESPNers got a pay cut

Re: 2020-21 Season

ESPN's Jeff Borzello posted another ranking of transfers last week, listing separately for Immediate Eligibility, sit 1 year guys, mid-year eligibility, and those that sat this past season and are now eligible. Only 2 entries related to UMass: Sean East (#54 in sit 1 year) and Samba (#77 in sit 1 ye...

Re: 2020-21 Season

For purposes of discussion, I've rated new guys with the guys leaving as improving, declining or no overall change. Clearly I'm looking at guys who have played here vs. those who haven't so it's not a fair assessment, and they might not be accurate pairings. Just conjecture... and I'm bored. Baptis...

Re: Changes at the NCAA

my first thought is the G league change might lower the gap between very good NCAA teams (like we hope to be soon) and the top-top programs. High schoolers getting $125K or more rather than going 1-and-done were going to the Kentuckies and Dukes, not to the A-10. Not saying even the top of the A-10 ...

Re: KAEO: CJ Jackson

so CJ and Keon are headed to the same conference. Probably means a couple head-to-head matchups, although doubt they'd guard one another.

Re: 2020 Recruiting

Preston might not be the clear second best in A-10 play, but his stats were clearly the second best (see "conference advanced" stats here https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/sc ... /2020.html.

Re: 2020 Recruiting

Don't know much about Gasperini, but like a guy his size who can hit 71% on free throws. He got to the line more last year even with his minutes down a little. Shot 47 3s in his first season, only 7 in his second season and went 0-3 from distance this year (all with poor %s). His minutes per game a...

Re: 2020-21 Season

I’m really hoping the season goes on as planned because I think we’re right in the mix for the #2 team in the league (I think Richmond is #1 until someone else proves otherwise). Richmond seems a clear #1, and to me SLU is a clear #2. SLU returns everybody, gets a great shooter coming off injury ye...

Re: 2020-21 Season

I do not follow Fernandez starting at all. One, he may not be eligible. Two, his stats were worse than the guy just moved out. Three, he may be prone to foot injuries which could limit both his time and effectiveness. Four, and this is my gut feeling, Garcia is just flat out better. Fernandes is a ...

Re: KAEO: Sean East

they'll need Fernandes ready on day 1. Between Sean, Kolton and Buggs, I thought Sean was best and had the most upside, although it's hard to tell given the injuries. Consensus has Fernandes much better than Sean, but you're replacing a guy who shot 40% on 3s and had an excellent assist-to-turnover ...

Re: Which (likely) returning playing will improve his game the most next year (2020-21)? Pick 2

I think Walker and East are leading because those 2 and Tre improved most during the course of this season, but Tre is so advanced it's hard to see him making huge improvements. He had 58 points in the last 2 games, shooting 69% on 3s; can anyone improve on that? I went with Kolton because his offen...
