Re: Coach Search 2022

Is it possible for the scholarship player to be eligible for a non-athletic scholarship or its equivalent and walk-on; thus freeing up the last athletic scholarship? I believe that’s what Trey Lang did. Left the team as a scholarship player at the beginning of the Kellogg era and then rejoined the ...

Re: If McCall is relieved of his duties

What he has done to the moral of the dept and what he has done to some hard-working alumni over his tenure cannot be overlooked ^100%, Bamford is an egotistical careerist who doesn’t care about UMass or anything else other than “being right” and putting whatever spin he needs to control the narrati...

Re: If McCall is relieved of his duties

If Bamford can fire an alum, that as a player was a major part of the 90’s success and as a coach got this team to their first Tournament appearance since 1998 right after the final game then he certainly can and should dump a coach that’s 20+ games under .500 immediately after the final game This ...

Re: Replacements for McCall

Guess Signman isn’t getting enough attention at the Mullins so he has to come on here and hijack threads posing quasi philosophical questions and pining for the Yankee conference days of unathletic white dudes from Massachusetts in short shorts playing “5 passes before a shot” style of basketball

Re: Replacements for McCall

McCall is done after this year. 5 years in and he’s 20 games below .500, has a 1 winning season by 1 game (8-7 in a COVID shortened season) and just won his 10th road game in almost 5 seasons for a nice 2 road wins a season average. We’re set for another new roster next season with likely 6-8 guys l...

Re: Replacements for McCall

I was out on McCall and didn’t think he would survive the season after witnessing the Richmond game from behind the bench and watching him coach. He was acting like the youngster trying to get into a full court pickup game and the veterans laugh him off. He finally gets a chance to play and complai...

Re: Replacements for McCall

if they go 6-3 the rest of the way and win 1 A-10 tourney game, that will put them at 17-15...I think that is enough to save McCall. I for one do not want to blow this up AGAIN! I think with the guys we have returning, we will be better than we are this year. You change coaches after this year and ...

Re: Replacements for McCall

If Bamford is going for the long term hire it’ll probably be James Jones from Yale. If he’s going for the quick track to success but likely won’t be here long term (ie Travis Ford) it’ll likely be Richie Riley from South Alabama

I don’t think that will be necessary. If he’s back as head coach next year then a serious investigation should be launched in regards to Bamford’s competency

Re: Game 14, 2021-22: Duquesne (1/8)

Lets face it, the buck stops with Bamford and he is about as worthless as teets on a bull. Since his arrival, he has done nothing or very little to improve the athletic program. Athletically, Massachusetts is falling into the same category as Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine, as no more than state ...

Re: Game 14, 2021-22: Duquesne (1/8)

From what has been said recently on Twitter spaces, McCall is very adverse to confrontation and it seems like guys have taken advantage of that to kind of have free reign to do what they want. Jones and Kolton aside there is no energy or intensity on this team. Defense and rebounding are easily the ...

Re: Game ##, 2021-22: at Fordham (1/2)

^ The AIC game is a replacement for a canceled Infependent game of which they had 2 - Charleston and Brown. The A10 games will be made up , like Fordham for UM. UM only has 1 canceled Independent game - NJIT. If UM has a good feeling about the rescheduling of the NJIT game , then they do not have a...

Re: Game ##, 2021-22: at Fordham (1/2)

This is disgraceful by Bamford. URI can get AIC to travel to them on short notice but UMass can’t get a game against AIC, Springfield College, Amherst, WNEC, Westfield State or anyone in the area? Starting to become convinced he is trying to make this season more of a shitshow he can blame on COVID ...
