Re: KAEO Keon Thompson
i seriously doubt that Keon is leaving because of something that Frank told him. He earned the starting position this year based on significant improvement from his freshman year. He is light years ahead of Curry as far as defense and rebounding are concerned, two areas that are highly valued by Fra...

Re: First reaction: UMass to the MAC
I guess I don’t understand why who we play matters. I’m not going to say “oh UMass is playing Ball State and not LaSalle, I’m not going.” I don’t go to games to watch Loyola or Davidson or even URI, I go to watch UMass. I’ve been to two away games in recent memory: Toledo and Dayton lol I agree. Wh...

Re: First reaction: UMass to the MAC
What makes this particularly hard to swallow is that they finally have the program moving back to the top of the A10 and getting fans interested again, as exemplified by the 7K fans at Saturday’s game. If this had happened under McCall’s tenure, it still would have been disappointing but may have be...

Re: First reaction: UMass to the MAC
I understand all of the reasons why this may be the best move for the school. But if you are primarily a hoops fan, ask yourself how many of the current scholarship basketball players would be at UMass if it was in the MAC. I would guess it is pretty close to zero. And how many recruits will now hav...

Re: Game 26, 2023-24: VCU (2/20)
I think we can safely say that this team can play with anyone in this league. They unfortunately played 3 of the top 4 teams on the road. If you change about 10 points over the course of the A10 season they'd be right in the thick of the fight for a double bye. Put another way, I like their chances ...

It would be nice if there were displays of trophies and uniforms on the concourse. The Conte Forum (BC) has a ton of them and it's very impressive.

Re: Game 24, 2023-24: at Richmond (2/14)
From The Collegian: A large part of that was due to Martin’s defensive gameplan. The coach put a 1-3-1 zone defense into play early on, preventing Spiders coach Chris Mooney and his Princeton-style offense from exploiting matchups through back cuts and ball screens. I haven't paid all that much att...

I wouldn’t mind moving Cohen away from the basket more to open up driving lanes for the guards.

Cross is in street clothes on the floor but appears to be walking without a limp or any bandages. Hopefully he’ll be back soon.

Re: Game 15, 2023-24: La Salle (1/10)
Just thought that the intensity increased significantly at both ends in the second half, but especially on defense. Maybe they just need to realize that there are no walkovers in this league and you have to work to win games. The good news is that they responded well and I’m sure that Frank will rei...

Re: How former UMass players have fared after entering the portal
East had 19 points and Mitchell had 20 (why can't we get players like that???). The broadcast showed a graphic of likely draft positions for Kentucky players. Mitchell was 7th or 8th on the list, projected at #77, which would likely translate to G League or international. Interestingly, he leads thi...

Re: Game 13, 2023-24: Duquesne (1/3)
What I noticed more than anything else this season, especially last night, is that this is a well-coached team. I can't remember thinking that about a UM team for a very long time. It doesn't mean that they are going to win every game or even that they won't look bad occasionally but it's hard to be...
