Re: 2024 Recruiting

I wish we had enough NIL money, but I'm sure we are not even close. First, the bad news for Rutgers basketball: All-Big Ten center Cliff Omoruyi is entering the transfer portal. Chad Venning from SBU is in the portal as well. I would take him in a heartbeat. I liken Venning leaving SBU to Cohen lea...

I have no idea why Diggins would leave, he's thriving here. Cross I can see. I'll say it's DHS and Foster.

Re: UMass transfer portal news - 2024

I just don’t think he was Frank’s type of player as some on here have said. Nothing personal. Frank stayed on him and even in the W against Fordham Frank made a comment postgame about how they won even with Cohen missing a bunch of layups. And I just think he wants more athleticism. He was very skil...

Re: Coach Frank Martin

I think retaining Keon and Diggins for next year is potentially really big too. If we can lose only one of Cross, Cohen, Keon, and Diggy, we would be in pretty solid shape. Too early for this, of course. Main reasons a player will transfer 1. Want a bump up in competition to a more competitive leag...

Re: A10 Standing/Seeding Changes Discussion

A place to discuss standing/seeding changes as they happen and scenarios going forward: Here is what will happen if all of the A10 games go our way this weekend: If UMass Wins and the following happens, then UMass will improve to a #4/#5 in the standings/seeding (depending on win/loss against VCU l...

Re: A10 Standing/Seeding Changes Discussion

I gotta throw this out there. UMass was predicted what, 11th preseason in the A10? Nobody thought we'd be any good. Lot of locals thought Frank was too verbally tough on the players, too hard on them. Well it looks like he was right about getting the right kids who want to be better. And all their ...

Bonnies tanked in the 2nd half. Take care of business boys and then we root for Dayton!

Re: Coach in 2025-26?

Generally a good idea to support your bosses decisions in public. He’ll likely be gone before we start MAC play. This decision will prove to be an absolute disaster. Is he going to see the transition all the way through? Probably not. But to say next year will be his last is hyperbolic. You don't a...

Re: First reaction: UMass to the MAC

Finally, the elitism on display towards these MAC schools/cities is appalling. UMass has more in common with these public schools in smaller cities than it does with rich private schools in DC and Charlotte. Need I remind you that UMass is in AMHERST. Personally I think Amherst is great, but I don'...

Re: First reaction: UMass to the MAC

Rankings: A10 is a one bid league. I don’t care about NET garbage or anything else. It’s Dayton and the dwarfs. Attendance: our attendance stinks in the A10. Nobody cares about the teams we’re already playing. National exposure: all MAC games are on TV Recruiting: we’ve been playing the same teams ...

Re: First reaction: UMass to the MAC

Honest question. Would you rather be 6-6/7-5/8-4 in football in the MAC and make bowl games and be a top 4 team in the MAC year in and year out in basketball or would you rather be at best a 3-9 independent football team and a top 8 A-10 basketball team? There are reasons to dislike the move, especi...

Re: Coach in 2025-26?

I find it hard to believe Frank was not aware this could happen when he took the job. Bingo bango. I'd have to hope he knew it was in the works. Whether he agrees with it or likes it, to be seen. But I doubt he found out in the news yesterday like the rest of us. If the A-10 commish came out and ta...

Re: 2024 Recruiting

Saying that both the A10 and MAC are one bid leagues and therefore equal is dead wrong. Ask anyone in NCAA basketball media or any group of NCAA coaches and they will all tell you that the A10 is far superior to the MAC. I assure you high school recruits feel the same way. What's heavier, a pound o...
