There was a thread on this a long time ago:
http://www.umasshoops.com/newboard/view ... =1&t=12539
There are many old UMass games linked throughout the thread. My favorite was the UMass-UNC game in the Preseason NIT. Was a real slogfest, but the end result was worth it.

Re: Game 23, 2018-19: Fordham (2/6)
In two nights, the Mullins Center will have about 9,000 people there screaming their lungs out for the hockey team. Interesting times we live in.

Re: State of the program
I don't mean to pit UMass teams against each other, but what is so jarring is the culture that Greg Carvel has established for the hockey team. Obviously there are far fewer hockey programs and it is easier to make a splash in hockey, but I think Carvel brought in young guys who are hard workers, th...

Re: Game 14 - 2018-19 - La Salle 1/5/19
Watched the whole game. No cohesion, no clue what to do offensively. This is why I’m watching more and more NBA. Can’t stand watching such bad, inept basketball. McCall has a monumental challenge on his hands.

Re: Game 3 - Harvard 11/13
Haven't posted in ages. Hate to come back on the negative tip. But I also watched the tail end of the game. Disappointed to see Pipkins take the layup instead of the 3 there. Can't believe they lost to Harvard at home without their two best players. McCall has his work cut out for him to rebuild the...

Re: Derek Kellogg - LIU Brooklyn
Sports-reference.com has the record as 1071-935 since 1925. Of course there has to be more wins than that as they've been playing basketball since 1908. I love how everyone is dug on these numbers. It's hilarious. Of course more losses as well since 1908. I just went to wiki and think I added up th...

Re: Derek Kellogg - LIU Brooklyn
i dont know...just looked at numbers is all....football all time record is 561-557. so .500 ball. 25-83 since 2004. thats 14 years. Maybe powerhouse numbers in your eyes. Not in many others. Basketball..601-464, thats not too bad. Most of those victories came under calipari of course(193). I will s...

Re: Derek Kellogg - LIU Brooklyn
Alas, the forsaken coach could not continue his triumphant tour against the mighty forces of Radford College. Yes, that indomitable powerhouse Radford. God Speed Coach K. God Speed. No need to dog Radford. Not like umass is a powerhouse....in anything. Last time they were good at basketball was for...

Re: 2017-2018 Season
Yes!! Reminded me a lot of Cal's first year in that the style of play and hustle were dramatically better than the previous year and the team was way more entertaining than the record indicates. I wasn’t even alive for Calipari’s first season at UMass so that makes me very happy to hear that it’s c...

It doesn't help that tomorrow's game is an afternoon and not a night game. But I also like the matchups. Let's keep it rolling!

Re: Game 32, 2017-18: vs La Salle, A10 Rd 1 (3/7)
Tremendous win. Can't believe Powell missed the wide-open look at the end, but happy to take the W and not look back. But what kind of garbage is it that UMass is playing so soon at 2:30 tomorrow? That's disgraceful by the Atlantic 10. Eighteen hours to recover? They could have easily slotted them i...

So glad they won and he can take a crack at it tomorrow. Special player, and we're fortunate to have him.

Re: Derek Kellogg - LIU Brooklyn
Just to be clear, DK’s team is in yes, but it is not like he ripped through his new Conference and piled up a 20+win season. If they lost that Wagner game they weren’t even an NIT team for fuck sakes.....   This is the perfect perspective. A lot of people said it was the former L...

Re: Derek Kellogg - LIU Brooklyn
My bad. I read Dewey's article on Babul a few weeks ago and thought he was now the head coach. In any event, I'll be rooting for Wagner this week.
