Re: FIRE WALT BELL!

This is the quote that has me puzzled: "We didn’t realize that the team would quit on each game, the season, the staff, and each other. " As bad as it got, I didn't get this impression from anything else I read, the obvious exception being guys that left the team.

Re: FIRE WALT BELL!

Yeah, the article was just left hanging there as if the writer had to go somewhere at the last minute and just hit 'send'. The one thing I wish he elaborated on more is the notion that the team quit. I checked out pretty early on this season for obvious reasons so I didn't witness much, but from wha...

Re: Game 6, 2019-20: vs Virginia (Mohegan Sun, 11/23)

Some unreal defensive stats from one of the Virginia boards...yikes: I've gotten used to the idea, partly through the top-line KenPom numbers, that we have our usual great defense this year, with more than usual struggles shooting from outside. Digging into the numbers a little more, I noticed how m...

One positive to Virginia's style of play is that they tend towards low scoring games which helps teams hang around longer. Definitely gives us a punchers chance with the outside shooters we have-just need to get TJ and Carl on hot streaks.

Re: Game 6, 2019-20: vs Virginia (Mohegan Sun, 11/23)

They are extraordinarily good at the pack-line defense and as a result they force a lot of late shot-clock 3 attempts. Quick, decisive and frequent ball movement will be paramount-if the ball starts to stick, you're screwed. When played well, this defense makes it very hard to get dribble penetratio...

Things had gotten so bad that Temple went so far as to have the university president formally recommend disbanding the program to the board of trustees in 2004.

Re: A-10 / Mountain West Challenge

My ‘guess’ is that all four Atlantic 10 teams left out in 2020 would automatically be in for 2021. I do think the A10 is intent in giving every member an opportunity to participate I'm not so sure about that. These matchups are about increasing the visibility of both conferences and giving each oth...

Interesting comments from Bamford re: the AAC/independence. Not sure if it’s lip service or his real feelings on the matter https://www.gazettenet.com/UMass-footba ... e-29609334

Re: The flagship...

US News uses the “official” names because they are ranking pretty much every school out there and need to be specific. Other than UCLA, for the most part any of those schools that are flagships don’t use the locator in any branding scenario.

Re: UConn to Big East 2020

This quote doesn’t sound too promising if we’re looking for him to help our case: “"Whoever it is has got to bring value and I don't know who's out there that does," Navy athletic director Chet Gladchuk said. "Is there anyone that can enhance the situation?"”

Re: UConn to Big East 2020

Keep in mind the options available to the AAC-either a split arrangement with Army football only along with a non-football school or the remaining c-USA/MAC detritus. If ESPN has a say in this (which I think they will with the new media rights contract they just signed), who among what’s available h...

Re: UConn back to the Big East?

Even though the AAC doesn’t have hockey, I hope the Frozen Four appearance shows how big the bandwagon is when it is activated. The fact that both football and basketball have just done hard resets and the administration is putting $$ into them should also help. We need to sell them on the future po...

Re: 2019 Recruiting

Looks like there's some interest in 2019 PG Josh Pierre-Louis. He's re-opened his commitment since Marvin Menzies was let go at UNLV If he has a motor anything like his brother Nate from Temple, then bring him in ASAP. That kid is tough as nails and all hustle and effort. He follows quite a few UMa...

They were all notified today I’m told
I’d imagine this was done now so they can look for other jobs during the final four weekend. Apparently it’s THE big networking event for coaches
