Re: 2020 Recruiting

^ I've been informed that Femi broke his arm in late August, and as such I assume he missed a lot of practice time and is way behind where he would normally be. Probably can't infer too much from his early season play.

Re: 2020-21 Season

^ Probably the guy he played ahead of last season - Walker. Pierre & Weeks are also options, but I'd bring Walker off the bench. Weeks, Pierre, and Santos are excellent complements to Mitchell, they're very good to have on the floor even if they don't have the ball in their hands. Walker isn't b...

My feeling is that you can't take Santos out of the starting lineup, he's just too valuable.

Re: KAEO: John Buggs III

I've really lost some of my enthusiasm. I haven't enjoyed seeing players I like leave the team. Okay, Samba, I understand he really lacked the necessary offensive skills and didn't seem to improving (except for his foul shooting, which got much better). But I still don't understand what happened wi...

Re: 2021 Recruiting

I don’t have a strong opinion of Matthews one way or the other. I put zero stock in what max preps says, but I think the combo of McCall & TB have been pretty good at identifying good players.

Re: 2021 Recruiting

I suspect we may see UMass pick up a commitment on August 23rd from big man Brian Matthews. At the end of July that date was reported as his commitment date, and since that time Bergeron/McCall seem to have had some Twitter connections with both Brian and his mother.

Re: KAEO: John Buggs III

He has played some PG, he's a good defender, he can shoot from distance (they say) and score off the dribble. I'm waiting to be proven wrong, but in the meantime, I thought he was competitive with KMitchell and Garcia. The only thing Buggs showed at UMass was that he could be a pesky defender in sh...

“I’ll put it this way, in college basketball it seems now that you not only have to recruit new players but you have to recruit your own team every day,” Marshall said. “And that’s not going to change. It’s only going to get worse.” Sounds like a joy to be around. Love me a coach who sweet talks pl...

Re: 2020-21 Season

^ Don’t rule out in those games that we might struggle tre playing the 4 with gasperini at the 5 Why is that? Tre is as comfortable from the 3 area as he is in the box. That makes Tre much harder to guard. If he is dragging the opposing 4 away from the basket to defend him, he will eat them alive. ...

Jai Smith (@jai_smith131) a 6' 10" forward from St. Thomas More (CT) has received an offer from UMass.
Just reclassed from 2022 to 2021.
Is it possible you have that backwards? Where are you seeing he moved from '22 to '21?

Re: Pat Kelsey

To clarify, not contract adjustments, more like contract extensions. I think most can figure it out Ok I get it. That would be scandalous implication and probably justified not to take the job if true. Kelsey can't have been stupid or naive enough to expect he was walking into a perfectly healthy s...

I really want to know the details-not looking for anything sordid-Just want to know. We were the laughing stock of the sports world that day. Literally being left at the altar. Who or what is being protected still at this point by not letting the cat out of the bag? What is statute of limitations o...

Re: 2020-21 Season

For purposes of discussion, I've rated new guys with the guys leaving as improving, declining or no overall change. Clearly I'm looking at guys who have played here vs. those who haven't so it's not a fair assessment, and they might not be accurate pairings. Just conjecture... and I'm bored. Baptis...

Re: 2020 Recruiting

I’m hearing that they will give immediate eligibility to transfers however, they won’t be able to play until January 2021, which I’m ok with. I suppose anything is possible, but nothing I've read suggested this. I don't think they're contemplating it going into effect in January... it would either ...
