Re: UMass transfer portal news - 2024

^ A little while back in a different thread, I wondered who is going to be held accountable for these deals. At some point soon, people are going to have major buyer's remorse when they pay that kind of money for an average to slightly above average player and their team is battling it out for 6th o...

Re: Baseball 2024

Baseball got swept down at GW over the weekend. Not a great result with their final series upcoming against first place St Louis. I think the baseball playoff is 7 teams. They're currently tied for 6/7, so they need to get a win and hope the teams below them finish poorly. We're one game ahead of Fo...

Re: 2024 Depth Chart

... but Frank to be using 8 players only almost exclusively. I think I will be very correct. I don't think Frank will play an 8-man rotation. He has said over and over that he plays a deep bench, 10+ guys. It's part of his philosophy to build depth and experience, and get bench players ready so the...

Re: UMass transfer portal news - 2024

I think we can replace most of that scoring loss. Curry, Ndjigue, and DHS could all improve their scoring output by 3 or 4 ppg, Big Lew and Nate G could add a combined 10, the three (or four?) transfers could combine to add another 12, and Marqui and Foster pick up some slack as well, so that would ...

Re: 2024 Recruiting

Jay is outstanding in everything he does for UMass. Great play by play guy and a terrific interviewer. We're super lucky to have him instead of someone like the pow guy for LaSalle or the nitwits at Duquesne.

Re: 2024 Recruiting

Frank also mentioned that he will likely make a decision on the last roster spot within the next 4 or 5 days (podcast was recorded on Wednesday, I believe), so we should get some news on the last scholarship early next week.

Re: 2024 Recruiting

... Abdelgowad, who was a backup C at Murray State and as best I can tell has some potential as a post-up threat, but is not much of a rim protector Frank addressed this in the podcast. He says that there are guys that are rim protectors that are not shot blockers. Those two are not necessarily the...

Re: 2024 Recruiting

We have 6 returning players, 3 transfers, and 3 freshmen. That is a great mix of roster building and it seems like the most continuity from year to year that we've had since when, a DK team? When's the last time we had 6 returners? Last year we had 3! For a coach like Frank that can develop players ...

Re: 2024 Recruiting

I am a member, but I'm not interested in this insider's club concept. I think it's incredibly lame. I mean, one of the best posters on this board, 69MG, had to delete a post because it violated some secret code? I don't know. Lame. I understand. Steele probably let the name slip and he shouldn't ha...

Re: 2024 Recruiting

Hey, alright. I don't know why Abdelgowad was such a secret, they probably just wanted the press release to come out first, but an experienced 6'10" player sounds fine to me. Welcome to UMass, Malek!

Re: UMass transfer portal news - 2024

That's fair, but if the player is committed to UMass, that's UMass Basketball news, not collective news.

Re: 2024 Recruiting

Then why say it, and what's the reason for the secrecy? I'm not upset, I just find the whole thing lame. I like the collective, I'm a member of the collective, but sometimes they create divisiveness between fans and this is an example. I've got Doctor J telling me "join the collective" and...
