Re: Who would you hire as HC for 2021-22
Looks like this thread has been quiet lately. That’s a good thing! Anyways, didn’t know where to ask this, so I’ll ask here: In the past, was Bill Bayno ever considered a legitimate candidate to becoming the next UMass coach? I don't recall Bill being in the running for HC at UMass. He has had some...

Re: 2020-21 Atlantic 10 season
^ Springfield kid, no? Was UMass in the mix for him at all? Yes, moved there around HS age from Barbados with very little, if any, basketball experience. I was told by someone who knows what’s going on in New England basketball in December of his senior year that he would be committing to UMass soo...

Re: 2020-21 Atlantic 10 season
New 2021 ESPN Mock Draft is out and 1 player from the A-10 is listed - Bones Hyland from VCU. I think, long term, Ward is a better prospect. VCU is a good spot for him, and I hope he stays there and keeps developing the way he has, but there isn’t a coach in the country that wouldn’t want him and h...

Re: New Game 9: Davidson 1/24
Those offers meant nothing as he grew up a huge Steph Curry fan and was focused only on going to Davidson.Camby4Life wrote: ↑Thu Jan 21, 2021 4:25 pm Is there a story to why Umass never recruited Grady? He got offers from multiple A10 teams and the locals BU, NU, and HC.

Re: Who would you hire as HC for 2021-22
The overall tenure of MM cannot be seen as successful by even his close friends. As everyone on here is aware there is a lot to being a HC than just the in game decisions. ‘Managing a program’ isn’t different than managing a business in most ways and his decisions (against the advice of at least 1 f...

Re: Who would you hire as HC for 2021-22
I would go with who I thought they should have hired the first time around and that is Caputo from Miami however I’m bias a bit here as I’m friends with his brother He would have been hired by now by a different school if he was the guy. I don’t necessarily think this is true as I believe he has be...

Re: 2020-21 Atlantic 10 season
I really wish I had taken the time to go see Hason Ward play when he was in HS. The first time I got to see him play was off the bench at VCU last year as 8th or 9th man and I was surprised how valuable he was to them. I was surprised because just about everyone I ever asked about him when he was in...

If the school you are leaving is backing your waiver request you are more likely to both get it and hear quickly.

Re: 2020-21 Season
This is a question mainly for OffSeason, but if anyone else feels like they have a better idea than the general public feel free to chime in. What’s the general consensus within the program about whether or not we see something resembling a normal season next year? Obviously no one in the world kno...

Re: 2020 Recruiting
To answer your question, they are actively recruiting Degray and will probably get him.

Re: 2020 Recruiting
Your theoretically using that scholarship for the next 4 years...they will be getting involved with better talent going forward. You tell player XYZ that you're offering them a scholarship on a year to year basis. You see how things go in year 1 and decide from there. If they're not on board with t...

Re: 2020 Recruiting
I'm still in the Richards camp, especially if he has to sit a year due to grades. 2020-2021 - Redshirt year. Practice against Tre and learn the offense. 2021-2022 - Take over the backup role from Gasperini and play the 5 at times with Tre at the 4. 2022-2023 - 50/50 or better that Tre declares for ...

Re: 2020 Recruiting
Degray doesn’t upgrade your talent level, he gives you another backup...that scholarship needs to be used by a talent upgrade next year. If they use the last scholarship in 2020-21, in 2021-22 UMass will have 2 open scholarships from departing seniors, and I think you can bank on at least 1 person ...
