Re: Liberty University

Here is what the leader of LU is concerned about and what Chancellor Subbaswami is concerned about. Quite a contrast. IMO, UMASS should not have anything to do with LU athletically. Our association with LU through the athletic competitions gives Falwell an undeserved aura of legitimacy. https://wset...

Re: 04 HE Championship game

^^^ My experience is that UMASS alumni are good people and fun to hang around with even if you just met them. Not all schools are like that and I am glad to have gone to UMASS!

George Floyd/Colin Kaepernick

Worth reading from Washington Post Sports page- "Colin Kaepernick’s real offense was to open the box and hold up what is in front of the audience, instead of the triumphalist, self-congratulatory image the NFL wanted. The league owners had a chance, with Kaepernick, to be more than hucksters guardin...

Re: 04 HE Championship game

Great game except at the very end. Kudos to all the players on both sides for grinding it out. Side story- Went to that game without tickets and figured we get some from a scalper. Before we looked for tix, we went to The Fours for a couple of beers. Met some nice guy from UMASS- bought him a couple...

Re: California law endorses college athletes getting paid/have agents

[/quote] I realize it won't change but that's why many people love college sports more than pro sports. I just like 18-22 yo kids to still be kids and enjoy the college experience and playing for their school rather than being basically pro athletes trying to navigate thru academics as well. [/quote...

Re: California law endorses college athletes getting paid/have agents

I know lots of people disagree but, isn't getting a 50k +/yr education with all the percs, academic support etc kind of "getting paid"? I'm sure there's tons of 18-22 yo kids who'd like that deal. I used to be 100% in your camp Floyd but have done a 180. This article give a good perspective about w...

Re: California law endorses college athletes getting paid/have agents

It looks more and more like the NCAA and college sports are no longer going to be around in their current form. These legal challenges are going to force some major changes with P5 schools perhaps breaking away and working under a whole different set of rules. Money drives everything these days and ...

I think I posted previously elsewhere that my wife tossed my Final Rage T shirt a few years age...Simply because you could see through it. Sill gets me upset to think about that.
Wives will do stuff like that. Has happened to me!

Re: Recruiting & commits

^^^^ Good for them. I wonder how other schools are doing with their seniors coming back. The transfer portal looks a little nuts. Seems like UMASS is not really into bringing in transfers. Anyone have any info on transfers?

Re: 2020-21 Season

Loved Jim Town, loved the Colonial Classic- local teams at the Garden-fun times. Wish they would bring something like that back. UMASS.BC, Providence and another local school. I can recall Jim Town ripping down a defensive rebound and letting out a yell that could be heard miles away. I don't recal...

"^Harvard, Holy Cross - featuring Ronnie Perry Jr. , UConn were among some of the participants. Talking about local, CR&L played a Prelim game featuring Patrick Ewing" I was at the game versus Holy Cross with Ronnie Perry. Two of my high school buddies went to the Cross while me and another guy went...

Who the hell is Dixie State?
My thoughts exactly but it turns out they have had a few alumni in the NFL and MLB. One name jumped out at me- Bruce Hurst!
