Re: 2020 Recruiting

I think Gasparini could be a huge bonus if he works hard. He is a man and has experience. Hands look great. Bigger guys frequently develop later. Love this addition! I could imagine him as a 5 and 5 guy in ten minutes PT which would really help us!!

Re: 2020 Recruiting

Ok so here’s my wild purely speculative guess. Sean sees two new point guards recruited with three already on the team. He and the coaches meet and they say they would love for him to stay and compete but they will also support him no matter what he chooses to do. Sean is smart and understands he mi...

Re: Videos of old games

Wow!! Thanks for the Alaska Shootout link. I loved it!! Great fundamentals especially on D by UMass and great hustle. I hope on the team now watch some of these games just to see how hard the Cal
teams played every possession. I forgot how tough they were on D.

Re: Videos of old games

Does anyone know if there is video of the game where UMass came from down 18 with a little over 4 minutes to go and beat West Virginia in Morgantown? I am guessing is was 96? I remember listening to it on the radio. I consider it to be the greatest comeback of all time but it never gets mentioned in...

Re: 2020 Recruiting

I thought Garcia looked great on tape and through my aging coach’s eyes he certainly looked like an A-10 PG star to be. Fernandes looks like the real deal too! I was actually really surprised there was so much energy for Femi.

Re: KAEO: Tre Mitchell

Total bullshit that Tre was not First Team. I’ve been watching Yankee Conference, Eastern Eight and A-10 hoop for 40 years and he was totally snubbed! I hope he and the whole team have bigger chips on their collective shoulders and go prove something in NYC!!

Re: Game 29, 2019-20: at Richmond (2/29)

It just wasn’t a good effort. These guys still don’t understand how tough and competitive they need to be to compete consistently at this level. They bring it in spurts but not every night like they need to be a top program.

Re: Game 27, 2019-20: at Fordham (2/22)

Haha! Driving guys could be everyone with decent pick. Most successful besides East in my opinion would be Pierre, Walker, Santos, Tre, and Dialo. Look, they don’t have to necessarily go full green light and get to the rim. Just get in the paint and then hit the yellow light and find open guys, draw...

Re: Game 27, 2019-20: at Fordham (2/22)

I just don’t understand why we hoist up so many 3s and especially early in the possession?!? Rarely is an early 3 a good idea except sometimes in transition. Getting a good look at a 3 is not that hard later in the clock and after trying to get a higher percentage shot. Especially against Fordham, a...

Re: Game 26. 2019-20: Saint Louis (2/18)

Good win! Confidence builder. Walker should be on the floor for 30. His ability to create and make shots is good but his ability to play D and defend he hoop is huge. If Walker shoots less threes, drives more and keeps up D intensity he will be in UMass HOF! He is unstoppable off the dribble and sho...

Re: Game 24, 2019-20: George Mason (2/9)

Carl needs to drive and shoot or drive and dish a hell of a lot more. He needs a complete game going forward and he doesn’t have one now. Unless he plays a more multifaceted game I don’t think he will/should even start next year. Really seems like a quick point guard and a shot blocker would take th...

Re: KAEO: Carl Pierre

It’s a visual perceptual difference. The background is different everywhere and players are used to putting up zillions of shots on their home courts. The slight variations can affect depth especially. By the way I hate that teams have practice facilities instead of using their game courts.

Re: Tony Bergeron

It only matters to me that the kids play really hard the entire game and that is on the head coach. Period. They need to learn that unless they play with toughness and all out effort they will never reach their potential. That’s on McCall because he sets the standards for the players. Last night was...
