Re: 2024 Season
too bad the MAC doesn't have a conference for lacrosse ( not enough schools with a program ) to be a sponsored league. But I guess there is hope, now that Umass is in the MAC for other sports, maybe we can have more MAC schools add a lacrosse program and then we could have the number one team in th...

Re: 2024 Season
Another 'perfect' one goal loss, to of all teams the previously 0-6 Brown.
Brown's ride was very disruptive most of the game, forcing many/12 caused UMass turnovers.

Re: 2023-24 Season
Not getting a NIT bid will probably hasten the exit of players, especially with the overall lack of respect for the MAC conference.

Re: 2024 Season
We lost time of possession due to losses at fogo (12-18) and some very bad turnovers. Offense was largely stumped in second half, with a couple of flurries. Bad loss.

Re: 2024 Season
OOps temporary lift as UMass enters top 20 for first time this season, at 20.

Next step - another team having a bad year, Vermont at 1-4.

Re: 2024 Season
Unfortunately no 'lift' from the win as Albany is weirdly without a win. No more Thompson family in the wings?

Re: UMass is back in the MAC
You must REALLY be pissed/disappointed. You were constantly spouting the nonsense: FCS is "the better fit".....FBS makes no sense........."UMass' applications have doubled since the FBS move-up was anecdotal". "Would've increased anyway" Nope, not pissed. At this point...

Re: UMass is back in the MAC
Not looking forward to Tuesday night FB games in Amherst on the 'NU". MAC is almost always 1 bid for BBall, and this seems like it's all about keeping mediocre FBS football, instead of being on a row boat, we have rowed to the Elba in terms of regional and national interest. You must REALLY be...

Re: First reaction: UMass to the MAC
One measure will be transfers out from MBB and FB, versus transfers in.
A10 gives the illusion of more big city visibility on the East Coast. MAC is low visibility, loaded with 'directional schools', which are not big sports brands.
Count me as MEH. Might help FB, I figure a net loss in MBB.

Nice win over Marist Tuesday pm
While starting slow, even giving Marist an early lead, the Gorillas stormed back to win 18-11. Box Score: https://www.insidelacrosse.com/game/69478/2024 Of note is that 4 UM players earned hat tricks. The downside is more the schedule, as we do not have a strong OOC schedule, and a close loss to Arm...

Great effort, end to end.
The team deserves better home attendance than it is seeing.
What will energize the students to attend?

Lots of bad shots early, D picked us up. Spiders look like they bit themselves - sluggish.

Re: Conference Realignment
Three points. 1. The Power 5 becoming the Elite 2 - Big 10 and SEC? They will suck up the TV ratings oxygen. Scraps for the rest. https://www.espn.com/college-sports/story/_/id/39444847/big-ten-sec-form-advisory-group-conferences-bond-tightens https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/3944444...

Re: Conference Realignment
^^^^ NIL seems to be leveling the playing field a bit between the big and small guys, which is good. Still would like to see the transfer portal tightened but that doesn't seem to be happening very soon. NIL is a cesspool of graft and corruption. Pulling more colleges into the swamp is not progress...
