Re: 2020-21 Season

The likelihood of weekly changes to the college BB schedule is rife. Just review all the FB changes/delay/cancellations, and CFB is 99% played outdoors, versus BB. Will many D1 basketball programs actually complete 15 games? I'll take the under. Fortunately, a 95% effective virus preventative is com...

Re: 2020-21 Season

Whoever it is, he/she is a victim, not to be scorned.

Overall UMass is doing a very good job in managing the virus.

Re: 2020-21 Season

Well, that is really too bad. A buddy went to USF and we were looking forward to the game.

Indoor sports this winter are looking less and less likely, even without audiences.

Re: 2020-2021 Season

I dunno if they will play a season in ECAC. Most see themselves as NESCAC and Ivy brothers, separated by a few points on the SAT. My bet is that ECAC folds their winter sports, either proactively or as COVID unfortunately spreads. Same could be true for all the college conferences in hockey, bball, ...

Re: 2020-2021 Season

Confirmed through Cornell, alma mater number 2. No winter sports. And no Fall sports in Spring '21. And nothing happens in Spring '21 sports competition until at least the end of February, although 'safe practices' are allowed. With the Ivy League’s decision, it leaves ECAC Hockey with Colgate, Clar...

Re: 2020-2021 Season

Two ESPN analysts rank UMass in the Top 10 pre-season.

ECAC schedule still up in the air, probably due to Ivy delays until January.

Re: 2020-2021 Season

Reviewing the schedule, the front aspect has a lot of TV coverage, but a little later on. Hopefully, this is just a timing issue, as schedule just released and so many winter schedules not released yet.

Re: Friendly's Files for Bankruptcy

I made a pilgrimage to the last remaining Brigham's years ago, which I think was in Arlington. Definitely prefer the small/individual stores for ice cream, versus mass-produced. So many special flavors.

Success of a UMass grad in advertising

If you have seen the "Your cousin from Boston" spots from Sam Adams, the cousin is a UMIE from Amesbury. His name is Gregory Hoyt. Here are some of the spots. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=sam+adams+cousin+from+boston+commercial The spots are popular enough that SNL spoofed ...

Re: Friendly's Files for Bankruptcy

I worked my way through UMass by working at Friendly's in Brighton MA summers and winters, long since gone. Pay was bad - $2.65/hour as a shift supervisor, but good tips. Paid UM room and board on a lot of quarter and dime tips - we pooled them. Ice cream cones in 1972 were 20, 25, and 30 cents. Als...
