Re: Game 27, 2023-24: St. Bonaventure (2/24)

I'm talking about the people who go in and out of the rows every fucking minute. Most of them don't know which team UMass is. I do stand up just so I can see the game, but half the people dont even watch any of it 100% right on this. wait at the top of the steps for a one of the timeouts that is co...

Re: Coach Frank Martin

Just a thought here on NIL fundraising and alums... UMass has the benefit of playing up "your state U" to its residents. So, while we target a Sugar Daddy (or Sugar Momma) alum to give big donations, and urge current Mass Collective members to dig deeper, and appeal to more "regular&q...

Would've been class of 93 but transferred after two years and graduated elsewhere in 94.

Re: What Good/Great Player in UMass History Do You Believe Deserves More Acknowledgement?

So many great ones already listed. McCoy and Dingle for sure. Some that jump out at me for various reasons: - Monty Mack was an incredible player for UMass for four years and one of the best pure shooters in the program's history. - Kit Rhymer was a beast on defense; A10 DPoY. We always had great de...

Re: Game 14, 2023-24: Dayton (1/7/24)

Odds on % of fans in sweater vests?   I am not expecting a win. What I want to see is for them to keep their composure. Last year's team (and pretty much all of McCall's teams) would just turtle and and lose any sense of discipline they may have had. They need to run their sets and ...

Re: Game 12, 2023-24: Siena (12/30)

I meant to ask this before. I know many of you have been to most, if not all, of the home games for several years. The box score says there were 4,036 in attendance. I could have sworn there were closer to 5,000. Any thoughts? I've seen the prior comments on "how do they count attendance?"...

Re: Game 12, 2023-24: Siena (12/30)

That was a great UMass team to watch, so good. Loved Will the Thrill. Thanks deke for that game video You're very welcome. I just wish they were better quality, but I'll take it for a 30 year old game converted from VHS to DVD to MP4 and cut together with some free editing tools by an amateur. :D I...

Re: Game 12, 2023-24: Siena (12/30)

Well, it took me longer than expected to string it together and publish, but I now have a November 1991 Sienna @ UMass at The Cage game posted on YouTube. It's old VHS quality and I'm kind of surprised that YouTube allowed it to go through their copyright filter "without the expressed written c...

Re: Game 12, 2023-24: Siena (12/30)

It's always interesting to see how a young team plays in a game they're supposed to win easily "on paper". Will the upperclassmen set the tone early and steady the ship? Or will it be a scrap for 35 minutes until talent wins out? UMass has seen their share of the latter. I think it's a gre...

Re: Festivus Holiday Post: Airing of Grievances About the Mullins Center (aka The Bill)

I don't have many grievances about the Mullins Center. I'm a pretty simple guy. I just like to sit and watch the games. I could do that in a big stadium or in the Cage. But I do wish for one thing... I continually find myself looking up expecting to see a score and game info up on the center court v...

Re: Game 6, 2023-24: at Towson (12/6)

As disappointing as tonight's result was, I'll take UMass' ceiling over Towson's any day. These guys just have to learn to come out fast and play the full 40. Easy to say, difficult to execute. "Being ready" is a maturity and energy thing. BTW, speaking of energy, does it bother anyone els...

Re: Game 4, 2023-24: Central CT (11/22)

It was my opinion that was what Frank was doing…if you watch closely, every other game when he takes Jayden out as soon as something goes wrong on the court he almost immediately puts him right back in…in the Harvard game there was plenty going wrong defensively in the last 6-8 minutes and he never...

Re: Game 4, 2023-24: Central CT (11/22)

I hadn't heard about the switch to 2pm until the emails and social media notifications yesterday. I was already planning to leave (from metrowest) by 4:30 or so, assuming the Mass Pike was going to be packed, but I can't get away from work earlier than that so I'm a little disappointed. But I unders...

Re: 2023-24 Schedule

Lots of early home games this year, just took a look at schedule , like 7 of 1st nine at Mullins. Need to get off to a good start Agreed 1000%. And maybe even build a little bit of a following for when the students come back in January for A10 play. A winning record will do wonders to bring people ...
